Basemap Gallery

  9. Adjusting Basemap Styling: The available styling options depend on the type of basemap being used:

    • Image-Based Basemaps (Raster, MapServer/Service): These basemaps rely on pre-rendered tiles, meaning styling is generally limited to visibility adjustments, transparency, blending modes, and overlays. You cannot modify individual features directly.

    • Data-Based Basemaps (JSON, GeoJSON, PBF): Since these formats contain raw spatial data, you have more control over styling. You can define custom symbology, adjust colors, modify line weights, configure feature visibility, and apply dynamic styles based on attributes.

    • Basemap Z-Indexing: Basemap Z-Indexing allows administrators to control the rendering order of basemap elements on the map. By adjusting the z-order within the Basemap Styles tab, you can specify which basemap layers appear above or below others. This is especially useful when you want certain features—such as measurement layers, user layers, or highlights—to remain visible above or below other map elements. Proper z-index configuration ensures that your map displays information in the most effective and visually clear way for your users.

  10. To modify the styling of a specific style type—such as symbol, line, fill-extrusion, or background—select the edit icon within the corresponding row. Additionally, you can remove, copy, or rearrange styles to control the order in which they are applied.

  11. Once complete click Add Basemap. This will save your configuration in the Basemap Gallery.

  12. To use this new basemap, go to Config Manager.

  13. Select the config profile you wish to use the new basemap in.
