Attributes Panel

The attributes panel is a powerful tool that helps users visualize, explore, and manage data and actions at a detailed level for each map layer.

How to Use the Attributes Panel

To activate the attributes panel, select one or more data points (features) on the map. If you select multiple features, a list of your selected data points will appear. You can then choose a specific data point to view its detailed information. The panel will display all available actions and underlying data related to that feature, such as attributes, metadata (e.g., area, centroid), and any configured actions.

Customizing the Panel

The attributes panel is highly configurable via the config manager:

  • Display Types: For each attribute, you can set a display type (e.g., text, number, dropdown, date) to best represent your data.
  • Visibility: Choose which attributes are visible or hidden in the panel, allowing you to focus on the most relevant information.
  • Actions: Define custom actions (such as edit, delete, or custom workflows) at either the layer or feature level. If no actions are configured, the actions section will be hidden.

Actions

By default, Maptaskr adds the Use as Filter and Zoom to Extent actions to every attributes panel, providing quick access to the two most commonly used operations.

Practical Example

Suppose you have a map layer showing utility poles. By selecting a pole on the map, the attributes panel might display:

  • Pole ID
  • Installation date
  • Status (active/inactive)
  • Last inspection date
  • Available actions (e.g., schedule inspection, mark as repaired)

You can tailor which of these fields appear and what actions are available through the config manager, making the panel adaptable to your workflow.

tip
  • Use the config manager to regularly review and update which attributes and actions are most useful for your team.
  • The panel can help streamline data entry, validation, and operational workflows directly from the map interface.

For more details on configuring attributes and actions, see the Configuration Guide.
